Franschhoek Wine and Garden Experience

Franschhoek is also known as the Valley of Dreams and is home to some of South Africa's most famous wine estates. It has been producing wine since the 17th Century with Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon the key grapes behind Franschhoek's full-bodied red wines.
Franschhoek is also known as the food and wine capital of the country and one would be hard pressed to dispute the claim.

What to expect:

Babylonstoren

Babylonstoren wines are produced in a state-of-the-art winery and are made to showcase the soils and climate where their grapes are grown. The Tasting Room sits adjacent to the Wine Cellar, offering views of the conical Babylonstoren Hill, Simonsberg and the Banghoek Mountains and you will enjoy seven wines plus their flagship Chardonnay, Nebukadnesar and Sprankel.
Also available to visit is the Story of Wine. This is a tale as old as time, told in vivid sensory detail in their new wine museum. The space is a celebration of man's ingenuity and the earth's generosity, and the cultural events that have shaped our collective winemaking and wine drinking heritage. 
It details the origins, cultivation and culture behind mankind's love affair with wine, while encouraging a contemporary narrative of its age-old traditions and social gravitas. 

We will also explore the magnificent gardens. In 2007, owner Karen Roos commissioned French architect Patrice Taravella to plan the layout of the garden. His work at Prieuré Notre Dame d’Orsan in France had impressed her greatly. There Patrice had reconstructed a medieval cloistered garden on the site of a restored 12th-century monastery.
