This is a huge lush area of land surrounded by mountains in the Overberg region of the Western Cape province. This area is 70 km southeast of Cape Town, just beyond the Hottentots-Holland Mountains.
This region is one of the more intensively farmed districts which produces 60% of the national apple crop. A recent economic shift means Elgin is also becoming one of the country's most notable and successful wine regions.

This is because Elgin has the coolest climate of any region in South Africa. Hence Elgin wines and tourism have consequently become significant parts of the valley's economy.

This is another town in the Overberg region in the Western Cape South Africa at least 100 km along the N2 freeway. Located next to the mineral-rich hot springs.
This is mainly an agricultural region whose activities involve grain production with a certain amount of stock farming. The town is locally known for the Caledon Spa and Casino as well as its rolling hills and yellow canola fields.

Bredasdorp

This is a very historic town in the Overberg region of the Western Cape province in South Africa. It is also the main economic and service hub, lying 160 km from Cape Town and only 35 km from Cape Agulhas.
The main attraction here include the Heuningberg Nature Reserve, many historical churches, art galleries and art and craft shops. Bredasdorp is also home to the Shipwreck Museum which details stories of 150 wrecks along the Agulhas Reef

This is the only museum of its kind in the southern hemisphere. The farming community are known to produce merino sheep in large numbers.

Cape Agulhas - Southernmost Tip of Africa

This is the geographical southern tip of Africa and is a popular landmark. Explore this popular location which was discovered by Portuguese sailors in the year 1500 and is the beginning of the dividing line between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
This location has a spectacular coastline, which is gradually curving with rocky and sand beaches. Take a walk on the shallow waters and enjoy the soft granular sand under your feet. This is considered to be the richest fishing region in the southern hemisphere.

Look out for a survey marker and a new icon depicting the African continent located at the southernmost tip of Africa. Enjoy the warm Mediterranean climate which is consistently mild with no temperature and rainfall extremes.

Cape Agulhas Lighthouse

This historic lighthouse is situated at Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. Being the second oldest still operating it was the third oldest to be built.
Visit this lighthouse located on the southern edge of the village of L'Agulhas in the Agulhas National Park. It is an outstanding structure with a round tower, 27 metres high and painted red with a white band.

There is also a museum attached to it which provides a lot of interesting information and history of this iconic place.
