What to expect:

Duration: 8 hours

Table Mountain National Park

Take a 3 minute rotating cable car ride to the top offering you an opportunity to take photos 360 degrees. Explore the top of this iconic mountain as you take in the views of the city.
Look out for the bay with the longest beach in Blaawuberg and the isolated Robben island. The views of the towns surrounding Cape Town including the wineries are just a marvel to watch.

Take a walk on top where you will also encounter the dassie among other critters. There are a few hiking trails where you occasionally encounter hikers. Learn the history of this mountain and lots of information about the plant species and the incredible rock formation.

The back trails of the mountain top provides an amazing view of the Twelve apostles peaks and the white sand beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton. Lookout for the several bird species around especially the Red Winged bird.

Grab a cup of coffee or the healthy Rooi bos tea from the coffee shop at the top of this iconic mountain before heading down.

Robben Island Museum

Take a ferry to this prison museum dubbed "The Alcatraz of South Africa". The emotional 40 minute ferry trip is symbolizes victory if you consider what you are going to encounter. Take a bus trip as the first part of this amazing tour.
The bus trip takes you round the island and shows you the old infrastructure which was used during the time of apartheid. On this bus tour you are given detailed information about the history of the place.

You also visit the blue quarry where the ex-political prisoners used to labor as part of their time in prison. Take a walk as you follow the footsteps of the international Nelson Mandela. Visit his former cell and learn how he and other political prisoners used to survive and clandestinely communicate.

A visit to his cell and a photo shoot is the climax of the tour. This prison museum used to house many ex-political prisoners that includes 3 of whom later became South African Presidents.

Bo-kaap

A walk in this place brings travelers to the colorful houses of the Cape. Take a walk in the cobbled streets and see why this is a popular movie location. Learn the local language as you interact with the locals. Take a selfie in this place or even a group photo with the background of these colorful houses.
Visit the Bo-Kaap Museum where you learn about the history and the coming of the Malay community. Along the street are stalls where you can shop for art and craft. There are several curio shops and even a few art galleries to choose from if you need quality art.

Look out for the Mosques which are common in this former Malay quarter.

Company's Gardens

The beautiful garden at the center of the city of Cape Town. Learn the history of the coming of the Dutch who settled here after 1652. Look out for the vegetable and the fruit trees as this garden was first built as a refreshment station.
A walk in this beautiful place brings you up close to the critters who are a major attraction here. There are pigeons, Egyptian geese, herons and rodents. There is also an aviary where you can view dozens of birds. Look out for the squirrels who are always looking to welcome visitors or even pause for a pic.

The fauna and flora in the company gardens is totally exceptional. It contribute to the natural beauty such that you can easily spent the whole day there. The stars are the trees with the ginko tree, the towering rubber tree, the ancient safron pear to name but a few. Look out for the 80 year old bamboo plantation.

There are fountains, fish ponds, statues and an art gallery.

Learn the history of slavery in Cape Town from this museum. There is no better way to learn the history of South Africa than a visit to this place.
Take a walk in this museum and take a few minute to listen to some of the melodious songs of the slaves on videos. History comes alive in this place as you also learn from the audio clips.

A tour of this place brings you close to the wide collection of the tools, jewellery and fire arms used since the stone age. The rich history of the origins of the slaves is laid bare combined with the harsh conditions the slave community was exposed to. Learn about how slavery contributed to developments in the Cape region including the wine industry.

District Six Museum

Learn about the forced removal which took place in 1967 at the Cape just as it happened in the other major cities of South Africa. This is a great opportunity for travelers to learn how these forced removals resulted in the creation of the townships in South Africa.
Take a tour of the Museum which has a good collection of photo history. Learn about these policies of forced removals which where put in place in 1966 before they were implemented 2 years later.

Castle of Good Hope

The last stop is a visit to this iconic structure in Cape Town. The oldest standing colonial building in South Africa and the most well preserved structure of the Dutch East India Company globally.
Learn how the respective governments between the Dutch and the British used this place for civilian rule. There are different segments of this old structure which were used for different reasons.

There is a place which was used to try cases, for religious meetings, art collection and the main house of the local authority to name but a few. A canon is also fired every day at 12 noon in this Castle. As of now part of this huge historical structure is used by the South African National Defence Force.
