Pretoria Private City Tour With Voortrekker MonumentThe city of Pretoria is situated 50km north of Johannesburg.
It is the administrative capital of South Africa and hosts all foreign embassies.
Pretoria has a rich history of the Great trek.
We do the tour of the Voortrekker monument to learn about the journey the Dutch people took from the Cape Province inland including the Battle of the Blood river where the Dutch faught with the Zulus under Dingaan.
From the Voortrekker monument the tour proceed to Paul Kruger house, a heritage side depicting the life of the late President of the Transvaal Paul Kruger.
We proceed to the Union building,the administrative capital of South Africa.
The impressive building is surrounded by pretty terraced garden that offer panoramic views over the city.
It is nicknamed Jacaranda city due to Jacaranda trees lining the streets.
Jacarandas bloom purple flowers between September and November.
The statue of Nelson Mandela was unveiled here on Reconciliation Day the 16 December 2013,24 hours after his burial.

Voortrekker Monument

The Voortrekker monument is situated on the hill top, and was built to commomerate the Voortrekkers who left the Cape in 1838.
The two main points of interest inside the building are: the historical frieze and the Cenopath.The Freeze is the biggest Marble Freeze in the world and consists of 27 panels depicting the history of the Great Trek.
The Cenopath is the central focus of the monument.
The Cenopath wall is decorated with flags of different Voortrekkers Republics and contains a wall of tapestries depicting the Voortrekkers as well.
The monument is inside the Big laager of 64 ox wagons made out of decorative granite

Kruger Museum

The house was home of the Zuid Afrikaanche Republic President Paul Kruger.
In July 1884 Paul Kruger and his family moved into the house. The family lived in this house for fifteen years. The house was officially opened as a museum in 1934, and was declared heritage site in 1936.
Kruger House displays a mix of styles: The cornice-molded gables, the molding on the front door, and the plastered moldings show Late Renaissance touches, while the front and back porches show Asian influence.
The long, broad front porch became famous as a place the President would often sit and would sometimes receive visitors.
The museum consists of the Original house ,two Display halls and Paul Kruger's State Railway Coach.

Union Buildings

Union Buildings,is the official seat of the National government.
At the beginning it housed the whole Public Service. Expansion and growth forced other Departments to go out. At present, it serves as administrative offices for the President, the Deputy President and part of foreign affairs.
For international visitors this iconic building is most memorable as the place where Nelson Mandela was inaugurated in 1994, as the first democratically elected President.
It is an important South African heritage side.
Visitors are free to explore the terraced gardens that look out over the city.
The impressive building is surrounded by pretty terraced garden that offer panoramic views over the city.
The largest statue in the world of Nelson Mandela was unveiled at the Union building in South Africa, on Reconciliation Day ,the 16 December 2013; 24 hours after the revered former president was buried in his home village of Qunu.
