Our final stop takes us to the bustling Whole Foods on W 5th Street, a location with a dark and chilling past. In 1884, this very spot was the scene of the first murder committed by Austin's notorious serial killer, who terrorized the city with a series of brutal attacks.
As we stand outside, I'll recount the harrowing tale of that fateful night when the killer struck for the first time. The victim, a young woman, was found brutally murdered, marking the beginning of a year-long spree that left the city in fear. The killer, often referred to as the "Servant Girl Annihilator," claimed the lives of seven women and one man, leaving a trail of horror in his wake.
