Ever since he was a young boy watching the Watergate hearing on TV with his mother, Off the Record Tours owner David Shaw has wanted to live in Washington. In his mind, anything that was important happened there. After living in Washington for more than thirty years now, he still believes that to be true. The confluence of personalities, power, and history makes this such an intriguing city and he considers himself fortunate to be able to tell you its stories as well as separating myths from facts.
When not showing visitors the District (that’s what residents call Washington) David enjoys reading, grilling, and traveling. He's been to nineteen countries and every state except Idaho and Nebraska. David Shaw is also a Certified Master Guide of the Guild of Professional Tour Guides of Washington, DC, a certified guide at Washington National Cathedral, and also works as an International Visitor Liaison for the State Department.
