What is BrewBoat CLE?
BrewBoat CLE is Ohio’s first and only human-powered cycleboat!
A 31-foot-long pontoon barge, the BrewBoat is propelled through the water by a large rear paddle wheel that’s powered by the pedaling of our riders.
Can I drink aboard the BrewBoat?
Of course! We don’t call it the BrewBoat for nothing.
Each guest is allowed approximately 36oz of beer or 18oz of wine. This means you can bring three 12oz cans OR a 32oz growler per person. You could also bring a 6-pack of beer or full bottle of wine to share between two guests.
We recommend canned beer, as anything in a glass container will need to be transferred to our super-classy plastic cups (which we will provide).
Is it hard to pedal?
Not at all. Since we're on the water, hills aren’t a problem like they are for traditional "pedal pubs." The depth of the paddle wheel is also adjustable, which can rise or lower the resistance level.
Can I bring my own drinks aboard?
That's kind of the point, silly! Each passenger is allowed up to 36oz of beer or 18oz of wine. That means you can bring three 12oz cans per person... and a small keg contains just enough beer to meet the legal standard for a full boat. Hard liquor is not permitted.
Do you provide food or beverage?
BrewBoat CLE is strictly BYOB and BYOFood. We’re also conveniently located next to several restaurants if you’d like to grab a bite to eat before or after your cruise.
Do I need to bring a cooler or ice?
Nope. BrewBoat CLE has 4 large coolers built right into the bar that come fully stocked with ice for your cruise.
Is there a bathroom on board?
Ah, the golden question! The BrewBoat does not have a bathroom on board, so please plan accordingly!
We’re working hard to make friends along the shoreline where we can stop for potty breaks if needed, and will update this section when something becomes available..
How long is a cruise?
Regular cruises run approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes from beginning to end, including a quick safety spiel before we embark.
We’re typically pedaling on the water anywhere from 90 to 105 minutes.
Do you provide the driver?
We sure do. All BrewBoat CLE captains are US Coast Guard certified for small passenger vessel operation.
What if it's raining the day of my cruise?
The BrewBoat sails rain or shine, thanks to a collapsible canopy that covers the entire deck.
In the case of extreme weather (if thunder, lightening or heavy winds are present) the captain has the right to cancel the tour and will provide each passenger with a rain check for a future cruise.
Can I leave a tip for the crew?
If they did a great job (and they always do), feel free to tip your crew members at the end of your cruise.
What can/should I bring on a BrewBoat CLE cruise?
The BrewBoat comes equipped with a Bluetooth stereo system that can connect to your phone, coolers fully stocked with ice and an experienced captain and crew member.
Here are some suggestions for you to bring, to make the most of your experience:
- 3-4 beers per person, or a standard wine bottle for every two people. NO liquor is permitted onboard.
- An awesome playlist. You're the DJ, so we'll crank out whatever your group likes.
- Weather appropriate clothes. We’re a summer attraction, but it’s Cleveland, so keep an eye on the forecast anyway and dress accordingly.
- Munchies. Pizzas, pretzels, those delicious little sandwiches you make, etc.
- Your awesome attitude and beautiful face. In case no one said anything, you are really looking great today.
Changes to reservations for tickets can be made until 16 days prior to the date scheduled. Reservations may be re-scheduled by the operator of the activity due to reasons such as weather, minimum participation requirements, mechanical issues or other interruptions beyond their control.
All gift certificate sales are final and not refundable. Gift certificates can only be exchanged prior to redemption.
