Central Parkway

Roebling Suspension Bridge

When it opened on December 1, 1866, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1,057 feet main span, which was later overtaken by John A. Roebling's most famous design, New York's Brooklyn Bridge, which opened in 1883 at 1,595.5 feet.
