Saluda Rainforest Nature Hike and Adventure

Learn and experience what most people walk right by on the trail! The unique temperate rainforest ecosystem of the southern Blue Ridge Mountains is home to a stunning variety of biodiversity in the form of fascinating and beautiful plants and animals. Get to know the secrets of millipedes, salamanders, fish, insects, trees, and edible and medicinal plants with eye-level, hands-on introductions.
This is a great way for kids and adults alike to bring science lessons alive in a very real and meaningful way.

PLEASE NOTE: The actual meeting location for this tour is about 45-minutes south of Asheville. 
Take Exit 59 off of Interstate 26 (Saluda). We'll meet in the parking lot of the Marathon Gas Station.

You will experience a personalized guided hike with a career educator to a beautiful waterfall with the option to wade and swim. Lunch is provided at no extra charge. Fishing poles and tackle are available if you want to try your luck with the local trout and sunfish. 
Along the hike you'll learn local natural history and ecology from a long-time local with extensive educational and environmental experience. You may spot wildlife or tracks, enjoy edible native plants, identify mushrooms, or experience other one-of-a-kind surprises!
