How much walking is done on the tour?
The tour covers approximately 1.5 miles of walking distance. It is a fairly manageable amount of walking for the average adult, child over the age of 12, or healthy senior citizen. There are no age limitations on the tour, but you are encouraged to consider the walking ability and level of interest/attention span of a younger child.
Is food included on the tour?
Although food is not included in the tour, there are many places to purchase a snack or drink nearby. Also, after the tour your guide will be happy to recommend some of the area's abundant dining options.
What should i bring to the tour?
The following are suggestions for what to bring to the tour:
- Camera
- Snacks or bottled beverages
- Comfortable attire and shoes appropriate for the day's weather (tour runs rain or shine)
- Sunscreen (if summer or sunny)
How should i dress for the tour?
We suggest wearing loose, comfortable clothing; and comfortable, athletic footwear. We advise that you check the day's weather in advance and prepare accordingly, as the tour runs rain or shine. Weather conditions are capable of fluctuating within a short period of time.
is the tour appropriate for children?
This tour has no age restrictions, but is recommended for ages 12+, as mature topics may be referenced. Please consider your child's attention span, and capacity for walking, if you are considering bringing them on the tour. Please be aware the tour covers up to 1.5 miles of walking distance.
Does the tour guide accept tips?
Tips are appreciated, if you enjoyed the tour, but never required. People generally give approximately $3-10 per family/group.
What happens if it rains?
The tour runs rain or shine. We advise checking weather conditions in advance, and preparing accordingly.
Covid-19
We take Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) safety very seriously. We are following all guidelines set by the City of New York, the State of New York and the federal government (including the Center for Disease Control).
Here are the changes, policies etc. which we have implemented:
- We are maintaining social distancing. At least 6 feet is kept between every person or every household/group. Every customer is required to follow this rule.
- Masks are worn by every person. The tour guide / instructor wears a mask for the duration of the activity and while in proximity with any customer. All customers must wear a mask or face covering, in adherence with CDC specifications of how to wear a mask properly. This includes fully covering the nose and mouth.
- Public tour sizes have been reduced to 8 people or less.
- All activities are being conducted outdoors. There are no indoor activities currently being conducted.
- Check-in is contactless. You will never have to approach close to the tour guide or instructor.
This is not a detailed historical tour. The information is a basic overview. We wish there was time to delve into extensive history and socioeconomic facts, because these are some of our favorite topics! The tour consists of: neighborhood overview, basic history, seeing cool shops and art.
Changes to reservations for tickets can be made until 2 days prior to the date scheduled. Reservations may be re-scheduled by the operator of the activity due to reasons such as weather, minimum participation requirements, mechanical issues or other interruptions beyond their control.
