Manhattan Bridge

Proposed in 1898 as "Bridge No. 3," the Manhattan Bridge earned its iconic name in1902. Its suspension tower foundations were completed in 1904, anchorages in1907, and towers in 1908. The eastern upper-deck roadway was added in 1922, and after streetcars ceased operations in 1929, the western upper roadway was completed in 1931.
