See Boston's history come back to life in a 5-part immersive tour along The Freedom Trail. Using augmented reality (AR) technology, we tell a chronological series of events from 1765 to 1775 as if they are taking place again at each historical site. Key historical figures and artifacts appear in the real world in front of you as if they've traveled from the past to you.
This is a first-of-its-kind, unforgettable new way to relive history! The experiences are interactive, and use your personal mobile phone without any mobile app download. For two important historical events, we provide you with an AR headset for greater immersiveness and interactivity with hand-tracking technology.

We're stationed near the start of the Freedom Trail, by the Commodore John Barry Memorial plaque in Boston Common. Simply follow the brick-lined Freedom Trail path (about 10-20 seconds) until you see the Relive 1776 booth. Our team will check you in and get you started!

What to expect:

Bunker Hill Monument

Relive 1776 is a 5-part, immersive AR tour that takes you through the full Freedom Trail. You will relive key historical moments as you travel through the years 1765 - 1775. The events are wide ranging, including everything from trying on colonial fashion to operating a historically-accurate field cannon! After meeting Paul Revere, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams under The Great Elm Tree in Boston Common, you will help them fight back against tyranny in a series of events around Boston. The last experience is at Bunker Hill, where the AR tour ends. You can go at your own pace or even skip stops if you're in a hurry. Each experience lasts 5-15 minutes, and includes a guide. Three experiences use mobile phone AR, and two use AR headsets (which we provide). The experiences are all designed to be fun and educational, and there is no gore. Since we use AR, not VR, you won't experience nausea or safety issues. With AR, you can see the real world at all times. It will be as if history is being transported to you! Finally, all of our headsets are sanitized for each participant to kill 99.99% of bacteria and viruses.
