Gloucester Schooner Festival Sailing CruiseThe Gloucester Schooner Festival celebrates the contribution of the fishing schooner to the history of New England.
Square riggers such as PICTON CASTLE, GAZELA and FRIENDSHIP have been known to participate in the events, as well as up to two dozen schooners of all shapes and sizes, and small craft of every description.
On Sunday of Labor Day weekend, the schooners form up for a Parade of Sail and then head out to race.
We will not compete in the races (which can take all afternoon) but rather depart from Salem and travel to Gloucester to join in the Parade and then sail out with the fleet before returning to Salem in the afternoon.
On our way toward Gloucester, we cruise along the Gold Coast of Massachusetts and see such highlights as:
- Baker’s Island
- The Misery Islands
- Baker’s Island Lighthouse
- Eastern Point Lighthouse

What to Bring
Lunch is not included. Guests are encouraged to bring their own food and drink, but no alcohol can be brought on board due to state regulations. We will open the bar at lunchtime and offer beer, wine and mixed drinks for sale.
Dress for the weather. It will be cooler on the water.
Hats, sunglasses, binoculars, and a camera are all good ideas!
Please do not bring toddlers or infants.
Itinerary
We will depart from Salem's Pickering Wharf Marina at 8:00 AM sharp. Please allow time to park somewhere that your car can remain until we return around 2 PM. Note that the parking on Wharf Street is two-hour parking, and you will gone for five or more hours!
We will proceed directly to Gloucester for the Parade of Sail and will jump into the Parade and sail along with the other schooners in Gloucester Harbor and out to the race start. At approximately 12:00 pm we will begin heading back to Salem. We expect to return around 2:00.

Reservation Changes, Cancellations & Refunds
Changes to reservations for tickets can be made until 3 days prior to the date scheduled. Reservations may be re-scheduled by the operator of the activity due to reasons such as weather, minimum participation requirements, mechanical issues or other interruptions beyond their control.
All gift certificate sales are final and not refundable. Gift certificates can only be exchanged prior to redemption.
