This is the origin point for our tour. The property that Casa de Vino 57 is located at what is known as the Joaneda House. While here the tour discusses this property and some food for thought about the remainder of the tour. Usually, this is where the tour guide will discuss the First Spanish period and the arrival of the British which leads to the main topic of the tour.

Pena-Peck House and Woman's Exchange of St Augustine

The Historic Pena-Peck House Museum and Gift Shop is one of 35 first Spanish Period buildings in downtown Saint Augustine. It was built by order of King Ferdinand VI for Juan Estevan de Pena, the Royal Spanish Treasurer.

Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine

Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine is the home of the oldest Christian Congregation in the contiguous US. The Cathedral was built between 1793 to 1797 during the Second Spanish Period. It is at this point on the tour that discussion between Spanish Colonial beliefs and British Colonial beliefs are discussed. The tour will explain how reconstruction of the Cathedral would not begin until the British leave Saint Augustine.

Government House Museum

The Government House also referred to as The Governor's House was residence that the Colonial Governor used during the First Spanish Period, the British Period and the Second Spanish Period. The present Coquina building dates from 1710, however, the first Governor to reside in a structure on this site was as early as 1598.

While the Plaza does have a lot of history in general from Saint Augustine's Colonial past for the purposes of the British Period tour. The discussion will concern but not be limited to, the American War of Independence especially concerning the burning of American Continental effigies of some of the founding fathers when the British Loyalists in East Florida heard about the Declaration of Independence.

Father Miguel O'Reilly House Museum

Built during the first Spanish Period constructed of tabby and coquina it was purchased by Irish priest Father Miguel O'Reilly during the British Period in 1785. This portion of the tour will discuss historic Aviles Street as well.

Castillo de San Marcos National Monument

This portion of the tour will not only discuss the general history of the fortification but will focus on this fortification before, during and after the British Period. The discussion will also look at the Royal Americans: His Majesty's 60th of Foot stationed here as well as the German Axillary that the fortification saw during the American War for Independence.

St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine

The shrine is dedicated to the memory of the 400 Greeks who arrived in Saint Augustine after the fall of the New Smyrna Colony. The survivors of the colony were given refuge in Saint Augustine during the British Period and worshipped at this site.
