Washington DC Fishing Charters on Potomac

Skip the crowded tour busses and lines and see Washington DC from the water!  Captain Owen Koch is a DC area native and has fished the Potomac River for over four decades. Not only are 20- and 30-pound catches a fairly regular occurrence, but you will gain a whole new perspective of the Potomac River, its local history going back over four centuries, and the ecology of the river ecosystem. Capital Blues is a fully licensed and insured business and Captain Owen is a certified Coast Guard Captain. We will be fishing from a 18 foot pontoon boat, allowing us to reach more areas of the river and accommodate more passengers with a larger deck layout than most fishing boats. Park at Gravelly Point and walk downhill to the boat ramp. Look for a pontoon boat with lots of fishing poles.

What to expect:

Gravelly Point Boat Ramp

We will be targeting Blue Catfish in the DC sections of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers. These fish can reach over 70 pounds! For those interested, we will also cover some of the history of the river and its surroundings, using historical photos and articles to show the river's evolution over the last two centuries. Fish cleaning is included for those who want to take home their catch- just ask in advance.
