In the middle of the 18th century, the colony of Maryland founded a city on the banks of the Potomac and named it after the King of England at the time: George II. Oriented around the port, the merchants built their buildings on the hill while the craftsmen developed their business on the banks of the river.
Integrated into the capital in 1871, the district has kept all its charm by fiercely resisting the extension of the metro. Even today you can appreciate the small brick houses as you walk through the tree-lined streets.
The tour starts at the top of the hill and ends on the banks of the Potomac.
