About The Farm

Sam Cobb Farms located just north of Palm Springs, east of Desert Hot Springs and in the community of Sky Valley. Nestled in the shadow of the mountains of Joshua Tree National Park, Sam Cobb Farms is the product of more than two decades of land and plant cultivation coupled with Sam’s more than 47 years of agricultural knowledge and experience. Sam's academic credentials and hands-on farming background has resulted in the development and production of some of the best tasting date varieties grown in all of Southern California, the USA, and yes, even the world! Including his very own Black Gold Date variety.

• An educational discussion of the LONG life span of date palms.
• A discussion of how dates are cultivated and grown throughout the year and how new varieties are developed.
• A sample of fruit directly from one of the palm trees (an extremely rare opportunity).
• Recipe ideas. Feel free to share your own. If you are willing to share, people often love a new recipe idea. If you are confident in your recipe, write it out so that others can photograph it, take it with them, and try it for themselves.
• The time for the tour will run approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, dependent on the number of questions asked along the way. Once people get to know a little about Sam, questions seem to develop? But rest assured, you will be with an "expert...in his field" (pun intended).🙂 Sam will have an answer for you!
• Sam knows the truly fine details of date farming and farming in general; he loves farming and it comes out in every tour!
