St Giles' Cathedral

We will start the tour outside of this 900 year old building. You will find out about it's origins, the truth about the building and about the it being the birthplace of Presbyterianism.
They're may even been an opportunity to go inside of the church to revel in it's impressive architecture, and even see a very important document.
Outside of St Giles you will learn about an infamous building that still has an impact on Edinburgh to this day.
We will then visit the Supreme Court Carpark which is alot more important than it sounds. Here you will learn about an event that would change the course of Scotlands History.
You will also learn about the father of Presbyterianism, John Knox and Charles 1 and 2nd, some very important men in forming Scotland as we know it today.

Mercat Cross
Mercat Cross, Edinburgh
You will then be guided to The Mercat Cross where you will learn about one of Edinburgh's most important structures, the most central point of Edinburgh's Old Town.
Learn about how the people of Edinburgh got their news and even revelled in entertainment at this spot too.
This is also a perfect opportunity to get a photograph of Scotland's National Animal.
You will also learn about The Great Fire of Edinburgh which happened in 1824 and the man who helped save a dying city.
You will also learn about Adam Smith, the father of economics, and how he changed the world with his book and his views.

Royal Mile

We then move further down The Royal Mile towards The North and South Bridges where you will learn about why the bridges were built, and why people ended up living inside the one of the bridges in the infamous Edinburgh Vaults.
As we make our way back up, we will pass the Close where the recipe for Scotland's National dish was first written, Haggis, Neeps and Tatties.
We will pass another, one of Edinburgh's oldest where you will learn about what life was like for the common person in the city and why it was given the nickname "Auld Reekie".

Writers' Museum

As we enter Lawnmarket, we will make our way to The Writers Museum where you will learn about Robert Louis Stephenson, one of Scotland's most famous writers and hear the tale behind of his most famous characters.
You will also learn about how Edinburgh Old Town was saved from destruction in the late 1800s and you will see a secret architectural technique that alot of people miss as they walk past some of the oldest buildings in Edinburgh.
We will then pass one of the most famous restaurants in Edinburgh that is incredibly popular with Social Media influencers and does serve some incredible Scottish Cuisine.

New Town
Edinburgh
From The Mound you will see some fantastic views over the North of the city, over The New Town.
You will learn about Calton Hill and find out why Edinburgh is called "Athens of The North". You will also learn about The Time Ball and it's connection to Paris.
You will also find out all about the most famous hotels in Edinburgh and it's connection to one of the most famous children's books in history.
You will also hear about Sir Walter Scott one of the most famous writers in Scotland and the monument that was built in his honour and it's significance in the world.
As we move up Ramsey Gardens you will find a large mansion built by Patrick Geddes before heading up to The Camera Obscura.
You will learn about the 170 years old Camera Obscura and Edinburgh's first ever tourist attraction, before heading up to Edinburgh Castle.

Edinburgh Castle Esplanade
Castle Hill, Edinburgh, EH1 2NG
We will then visit the world famous Edinburgh Castle. While we won't be going inside the castle, you will be told the history of the land that Edinburgh is built on.
You'll hear about the earliest people to live on the land and the first recorded people to life on Castle Rock.
You will also hear about Scotland's most famous king and his success at getting Scotland's Independence and also Scotland's most famous character, William Wallace.
You will learn about the battles that took place at the castle and you will learn about how the castle changed hands over the 900 years of it existence.
You will hear about one of Scotland's most famous heists in history that happened in 1950 and it's significance in modern day Scotland.
You will also learn about the famous One O'clock gun before having a look at the sensational views over the North and South of the city. A fantastic opportunity to take some Incredible photos of the castle and the surrounding views.

Grassmarket
21 Grassmarket, Old Town, Edinburgh, EH1 2HS
You will then be led to The Grassmarket, a 600 year old Marketplace where you will hear about why it's called The Grassmarket, and it's current purpose.
You will be told about Edinburgh's most infamous men, who were involved in some of history's most barbaric murders who operated in this area in the early 1800s.
You will then be taken to the site of Edinburgh's form of entertainment before hearing the sad tale of Maggie Dickson.
We will then move onto the base of one of the most famous streets in the world, Victoria Street, the inspiration for Diagon Alley from Harry Potter and is one of the most photogenic streets in Scotland.
There will be an opportunity to take photographs of the street, before making our way to Greyfriars Kirkyard.

Greyfriars

We then move onto our final location, Greyfriars Kirkyard, one of the most famous cemeteries in the world.
You will find out about the disturbing origins of the kirkyard before being led along the cobbled road passing the ominous graves of Edinburgh's Past residents.
You will see one of the last remnants of the city walls that's surrounded Edinburgh from the mid 16th Century to the 19th Century, after passing under the wall you will meet Scotland's Worst Ever Poet and learn his story.
This will take place into he shadow of Edinburgh's most prestigious private school before being taken to learn about Body Snatching and Graverobbing in Edinburgh.
One of our final stories will be about the most famous dog in Scotland, Greyfriars Bobby. You will gaze upon the grave of the wee dog, before saying goodbye to your tour guide, who will be able to suggest further areas to explore around Edinburgh.
