Guided Tour Experience Of Oban Local Food, Drink And History

This is a private tour with an experienced guide who will help you experience Oban like a local. You will be picked up and dropped off at your accomodation in Edinburgh and be transported in comfort and style in one of our Mercedes or Land Rover vehicles.
You will avoid the places the coach tours go, be able to make the day suit what you want to do and get to see some amazing places you would otherwise miss on the journey to and from Oban from Edinburgh.

Your guide will recommend local lunch spots, fill you in on an array of Scottish culture and history and answer all your questions about Scotland so you will end the day knowing more about Scotland and Oban than most.

You will go beyond the surface of just seeing the pretty town that is Oban, you will.learn about it's rich history, the famous characters who made it famous and how it played a role in world wars and even the Cold War.

This stunning category A listed building was polled as one of Scotland's top 10 buildings and entry is by donation. Built by local nobility, the cloisters are made from destroyed battleships, it has effigies of great Scottish Kings and is a real joy to visit and get photos of this iconic building.

Explore the town with us, try the amazing seafood, let us tell you the nest places for fish amd chips where the locals go, get to the spots for the best photos of the vibrant seafront, tour the famous distillery or even hang out in a local pub and try their excellent beer or have a whisky flight from some of Scotlands greatest distilleries before doing some shopping. Oban has something for everyone and your guide will give you local insight to make the most of your time here and get the day you want.

Oban distillery is world famous and for good reason. The single malt whisky here is sweet, lingers on your palate and has just a hint of smoke in the background. Already world famous, you have the chance to try some where it is made. If you wish to visit the distillery for a tour or a tasting let us know when you book and we can suggest some options for you to book either here or at a local pub which offers great whisky tastings.

Kilchurn Castle

This ruined castle is absolutely majestic. The few tourists who visit it on their own end up getting a less than perfect view, but on this private tour your guide gets you to the best possible spots to get the most stunning views away from the crowds. Once a stronghold of Clan Campbell, this beauty is one of the less visited castles in Scotland and although you cannot visit inside, the views of it are well worth the visit.

No trip to Scotland is complete without seeing some of our most famous animals; Highland cows or "Coos" as well call them here. For those of you who want to see some coos this can be a great place to see them up close if we don't manage to see some elsewhere. Please note that we usually cannot see them in the winter months as they go inside for the winter.

Local pubs are a great way to keet locals, find out about our drinking culture and get to learn more about our beloved single malt whisky. We can help arrange a whisky tasting (or just a beer or a gin) at this great local pub. Let us know when booking if this is something you would like to do. Please note that doing this and a distillery tour might not be possible.
