This very graveyard served as inspiration for J.K. Rowling's beloved Harry Potter trio. As you delve deeper into Rowling's life and visit the two cafés where she penned her tales, you'll embark on a 25-35 minute, uphill journey to the dormant volcano, Arthur's Seat. Weather permitting, you'll settle in to savor the awe-inspiring city sunset.
Descend from Arthur's Seat at a leisurely pace, winding your way to the Royal Mile, where the Holyrood Palace grounds await. Discover the 'birthplace' of Scrooge and conclude your journey at the venue where you can savor the iconic deep-fried Mars bar.

Edinburgh Harry Potter, History & City Sunset TourJoin us on an all-round, interactive, 3 hour Edinburgh walking tour full of dark tales, J K Rowling’s life and a stunning city sunset atop Arthur’s Seat. Let our expert guide lead the way as you embark on a magical journey through the enchanting Old Town which will bring the streets around you to life through fun-filled storytelling.
The tour will start at the National Library of Scotland where we will make our way down the street which is believed to have inspired the creation of Diagon Alley. This street will lead us directly to the heart of the old town where we will enter Greyfriars Kirkyard to see the grave of Greyfriars Bobby, the same graveyard which inspired J K Rowling’s three leading characters in the ever-popular Harry Potter series. While learning more about Rowling’s life and visiting two of the cafes where she wrote, we will make the 25-35 minute, steep climb up the extinct volcano, and, weather permitting, we can sit and absorb the amazing sunset over the city.
Slowly descending Arthur’s seat, we will head to the Royal Mile where we will find the Holyrood Palace grounds, the ‘birthplace’ of Scrooge and our last stop, the establishment where you can try the deep fried mars bar (recommended but not included).
