Edinburgh Outlander Tour: Lallybroch and Culloden

Our new Outlander tour from Private Tours Edinburgh is ideal for fans of the hit series Outlander. Step into Jamie Fraser’s world with visits to three key filming locations – Lallybroch (Midhope Castle), Jamie’s ancestral home, and two other iconic sites from the show.
Midhope Castle, built in the 15th century by John Martyne and rebuilt in the 1600s, still retains its historic charm. It appeared frequently throughout the TV series as Lallybroch .
Tours run daily, six days a week, for small groups of up to four people.

Midhope Castle

Lallybroch – Midhope Castle
The first location on this tour is Lallybroch – Midhope Castle, ancestral home of Jamie Fraser . Outlander scenes were shot at Midhope Castle on the fringes of the Hopetoun Estate near South Queensferry.

Midhope was built in the 15th Century by John Martyne, laird of Medhope. It was rebuilt in the mid 1600s and remains much the same today.

The interior of Midhope is inaccessible .

Midhope Castle, a 16th-century tower house, is used as Lallybroch(also known as Broch Tuarach) in Outlander. Left to Jamie by his parents, Brian and Ellen, Lallybroch is also home to Jamie’s sister, Jenny, her husband Ian Murray and their children. Lallybroch is a crucial part of Jamie Fraser’s life in Outlander . In Outlander Jamie calls Claire Sassenach as a term of affection .

Outlander – Doune was Castle Leoch , and it also features in the 20th century episode when Claire and Frank Randall visit the castle on a day trip.
Game of Thrones . Doune represented the castle Winterfell in Game of Thrones.

Outlander prequel Blood of My Blood series .Filming has begun at Doune Castle in Scotland on Outlander: Blood of My Blood until 22 February , a show that will focus on the parents of the leads in the main series. Once a Royal residence, Doune Castle was rebuilt by Robert Stewart, Duke of Albany in the late 14th Century.
