Your Scottish whisky experience begins when your guide collects you and the rest of the group from Edinburgh. You'll board the comfortable minibus and begin your journey into the scenic Highlands. Here begins three action-packed days of walking, sightseeing and of course, whisky drinking. You'll visit several different premium distilleries, enjoy meals to accompany your whisky, see where whisky casks are made, and sleep in comfortable accommodation organised by your guide. During your three-day adventure you'll be able to take in the awe-inspiring countryside that surrounds the distilleries, and learn the intricacies of your favourite spirit.

This tour takes you into the Scottish Highlands and the heart of ‘Malt Whisky Country’, Speyside. You will experience stunning scenery, hear tales of Scotland’s history and uncover the secrets of our national drink
Day 1
After departing Edinburgh, you will escape the city and head north for a quick photo stop at Edinburgh's iconic Forth road and rail bridges, before heading into the Kingdom of Fife. Here your whisky pilgrimage begins as we visit Lindores Abbey Distillery.
You’ll learn the whisky making process here, and get to try some of their delicious Aqua Vitae, as they wait for their whisky to mature. The next stop is Stonehaven, where there is time to take a walk around and enjoy a local lunch before heading to Strathisla Distillery for a a cask tasting and blending experience. Your journey now continues into Grantown- on-Spey.

Day 2
Today starts with a drive along the northern bank of the River Spey, followed by a visit to Glenfarclas Distillery. One of the last independent, family-owned distilleries in Scotland where we have arranged a special tour and tasting for you to enjoy!
You can then enjoy a delicious lunch in the restaurant at Glenfiddich Distillery (matched with a wee dram if you like) before continuing to the fascinating Speyside Cooperage.
Here you will get an insight into the often forgotten art of the cooper – the people responsible for the casks used by the distilleries. The journey continues by heading to Aberlour Distillery where we have arranged a very special tasting to finish your first day exploring Speyside.
Day 3
After a hearty breakfast, it is a short drive to The Glenlivet Distillery to kick off your Wednesday morning. The guides at Glenlivet will be taking you on a private tour before letting you sample some amazing Whisky exclusives in a stunning setting.
You will now say farewell to Speyside as we return south. Our journey back to Edinburgh takes us over the highest public road in Britain and takes in some of the most spectacular and wild highland scenery the Cairngorm National Park has to offer.
(Due to various reasons - such as weather, closures and special events - it may not always be possible to visit all distilleries mentioned. Please be aware that, if this is the case, we will ensure that suitable alternatives are found.)
What to Bring
- If you are lucky enough to look under 25, please bring a photo ID with you as you may be asked to prove you are over 18. All passengers must be 18+
- We suggest you bring suitable clothing for sun and rain including a waterproof jacket, plenty of layers and shoes suitable for short walks.
- Due to the size of our vehicles, we ask you to limit your luggage to 1 small piece per person with a maximum weight of 15kg. You can also bring 1 small handbag or daypack which can be stored on the bus by your feet or above your head.

Scottish Routes
The original Scottish Routes was started in 2004 and specialized in tailor-made tours all over Scotland. The company earned a great reputation for it’s customized tours of Scotland for small groups and families. The business owner (whose name we shall omit to spare his blushes) fell in love with a young lady from the other side of the Atlantic. As with all good Scottish love stories, he decided to follow his heart and, in 2009, made the decision to move to the USA.
The business was sold in early 2009 and, in 2010, the new managing director (Will Stockham) chose to rebrand and expand the business. We now specialize in tailor-made and scheduled departure tours all over Scotland for individuals, couples, friends, small groups and whiskey clubs.
In April 2017, Will decided it was time for some new adventures and decided to leave us. The rest of the team, along with the new management, are looking forward to being of service to you.
As well as making sure our tour guests don’t miss out on the well-known tourist sights and attractions that Scotland has to offer, we pride ourselves in escaping the crowds and sharing some of our favorite hidden gems as well.
