The original Globe existed a short two blocks away from Sam Wanamaker's wonderful replica. Your guide will take you to the original site as well as escort you into the Globe where you will enjoy the official in-house tour of the Globe. Fascinating!

Golden Hinde

This is a life-size model of the original Golden Hinde that Sir Francis Drake sailed around the world in 1577. He was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth who was both Drake's and Shakespeare's queen.

In Shakespeare's time this was the " Las Vegas " of London where activities such as bull-baiting and theatre could legally take place, unlike in the CITY of London on the other side of the Thames, where the puritan city fathers considered theatre to be the " work of the devil".
