Old Royal Naval College

Cutty Sark Gardens, University of Greenwich, London, SE10 9NN

Our experienced guide will walk you through the past and present of the Old Royal Naval College. The college ground was once where Placentia Palace stood, where King Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Mary were born. Parts of the artefacts and flooring remain buried between the towers in the college. The beautiful Greenwich Park was once the palace's garden.
We will stop by the Royal Chapel which was rebuilt in 1779 after a fire. With its richly decorated ceiling, naval themes, and exceptional altarpiece painted by ‘the Raphael of America’, Benjamin West, it is evident why the Chapel is now regarded as one of the finest neo-classical interiors in existence.
Don't miss the royal entrance when the members of the royal family used to visit the palace by boat.
