Staff Review: Little Venice to Camden Town Regents Canal Waterbus Boat Trip
Connor and I went on an unforgettable boat ride this week from Little Venice to Camden Town!
Before the Waterbus Experience:
Although the weather was not in our favour on the day of our experience, we still had a wonderful time. We excitedly got the train to Warwick Avenue tube station, and walked along the canal towards the meeting point, from where our canal ride was departing.
During the Waterbus Experience:
I have never visited Little Venice or Camden Market before, but I have had some great memories from going out in London and I could not wait to discover new spots from the city through the canal.
The boat pulled up 10 minutes prior to the departure time, which gave us a few minutes to sit down and talk to our guide about the experience. Connor and I were lucky to be with just a few people on the boat, so the experience felt more private.
Obviously, I had to go use the toilet before starting our experience but unfortunately, there is no toilet on the boat, therefore, I had to run to the pub and sneakily enter the bathroom from the back door - I felt like a spy on a mission. Thankfully, I got back to the boat on time and was ready to start our experience.
Our ride was called The Milton, a cream and brown coloured boat made from wood in the mid-1970s. Throughout our adventure on the canal, our guide told us all about the history of the boat and shared stories with us whilst floating along, which was exhilarating. We passed some people kayaking down the canal which looked pleasant. Yet, I don’t think I would be able to go kayaking in this season of the year. I am afraid I will initiate a Titanic story.
Suddenly, we passed under a dark tunnel and our amazing tour guides put on a show for a customer’s birthday. Every customer started singing the famous Happy Birthday song, which was surprisingly dedicated to me, even though my birthday is on the 8th of December.
Connor explained that whilst I was on my Mission Impossible style trip to the bathroom, he had the time to set up a little prank. He asked the staff for a little early celebration in honour of my 21st birthday. It was such a surprise, but it made me the happiest.
Throughout the tour we passed some incredible buildings, one of which was Noel Fielding’s house. We also passed a magnificent school near Bloomfield Road in Little Venice, which our guide told us was attended by the children of numerous famous people.
We also had the chance to pass by London Zoo, which looks enormous from the outside. Whilst we could see the Monkey Sanctuary the guide told us all about the history of the zoo, including the interesting story of the gorilla Kumbuka who escaped the park during lockdown.
Lastly, we took a left and passed some beautiful houseboats including an incredible Chinese restaurant on the canal! It was fascinating to see a foreign architecture on one of the boats.
After the Waterbus Trip:
Once we had concluded our boat trip on the canal, we arrived back at Camden Town, inside the market. Connor and I were so pleased from the wonderful time we spent discovering this part of London and the history behind every corner of the canal. We had a great time!
Thanks for Reading!
We would like to say a huge thank you to our 2 tour guides Brooke and Freya for such a fantastic experience on The Little Venice to Camden Town Regents Canal Waterbus Boat Trip.
We thought that the entire experience was very inviting as we had the most spectacular time that opened our eyes to discovering London. If you are looking to make a thoughtful birthday surprise for a friend, the staff will be more than happy to use their microphone for a shoutout!
