For centuries, things that are really rare and expensive have been traded here. Flying carpets from the Orient in the world's largest trading center for these handmade treasures. Spices from all over the world, delights to smell, taste and discover. Add to that the unique history of the Port of Hamburg, the main hub for these goods, especially cocoa and coffee. Coffee dynasties were founded here, such as those of Jakobs and Darboven.
 

Europe's coffee exchange was here in the Speicherstadt and the first telegraph lines, the transatlantic cable, were laid to connect the New York and Hamburg stock exchanges. Europe's largest cocoa storage can be seen on the tour as well as the traditional ship harbour in the oldest harbour basin in the Hanseatic city.
 

The tour ends in the coffee roastery, where you will experience a professional coffee tasting. There you will learn a lot of new things about the most popular drink of the Germans and you can try a variety of coffee types.
