Take a look at a classic Italian-style square near the Munich Residence, where Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch culminated in 1923, being blocked by the Bavarian police. Get a glance at the past and what was happening in Munich at those terrible times.
The square has traditionally been a significant place for public events, demonstrations, funerals, which was a possible reason for the Nazis to march here. The square is surrounded by Feldherrenhalle, Barocco Theatine Church of St. Kajetan, and the oldest café in Munich.
Today the square is a popular meeting place and a site for annual Open-Air Classics Concert.
