Munich Herrenchiemsee Palace Day Trip

Experience King Ludwig II’s vision on this full-day trip to Herrenchiemsee Palace – his attempt to recreate Versailles in Bavaria. From Munich Central Station, we take the train to Prien, continue on the historic Chiemsee train to the lakeshore, and cross Lake Chiemsee by ferry. On Herreninsel, we walk through the former monastery grounds before lunch (not included), then explore the palace park inspired by French models. The highlight is Herrenchiemsee Palace (entry and guided tour subject to availability). Return by horse-drawn carriage, ferry, and train to Munich.
We will travel by public transportation: train, bus, and ship (DB Regio AG Bayern, Chiemsee-Bahn GmbH, and Chiemsee-Schifffahrt Ludwig Feßler KG). The steam tram runs with a diesel locomotive on weekdays.
