Toronto Farmers Markets and Bicycle Tour

Live like a local and explore two of Toronto's many farmer's markets, the oldest at the St Lawrence Market and one of the more unique markets, the Evergreen Brick Works Farmers Market. These two bustling markets host farmers every Saturday morning and locals frequent them regularly, on this tour you will understand why they are so popular. At the St Lawrence market we will tour the main floor and learn about its' history and cultural significance to Toronto. We will enjoy a Canadian bacon sandwich at the iconic Carousel bakery. After riding through the city and exploring some of the unique neighborhoods in the core of the city, We will descend into the Don River Valley and the Evergreen Brick Works. Here, you will be treated to a coffee or alternative and a pastry while you stroll through this unique farmers market at your own pace.

Distillery Historic District

The pedestrian-only Distillery District is the oldest collection of commercial Victorian era buildings in North America and is set in the quaint 19th century buildings that once housed the largest whiskey distiller, the Gooderham and Worts distillery. We suggest you arrive early and stroll along the cobblestone lanes to take in the sights and learn more about this important part of Toronto's history.

Canada's Sugar Beach

Sugar Beach is an urban park in the heart of the city along Toronto's waterfront, built in 2010 it is not meant for swimming but for relaxation, leisure and social activities. The views of the adjacent sugar refinery and the islands across the harbour are worth the stop.

St. Lawrence Market

This market is the first of two on this tour and the oldest public market in Toronto, established in 1803. This site is notable to Toronto as serving as a post office, city hall and the city jail at one point. We will hear about its history and cultural significance as we enjoy a Canadian bacon sandwich from the iconic Carousel bakery.

Cabbagetown

Cabbage town is one of Toronto's oldest neighborhoods and its name was derived from the Irish immigrants who initially settled here. It is said that they were so poor that they grew cabbages in their front gardens. It is now an affluent neighborhood and home to both the Riverdale Farm and the Wellesley Cottages.

Evergreen Brick Works

The Evergreen Brick Works is a former quarry that produced the iconic red bricks of many Toronto buildings, including the Ontario Legislature (Queen's Park). The quarry was redeveloped as an urban park with a series of naturalized ponds while the buildings have been restored and opened as an environmentally focused community and cultural center. We will visit the Saturday morning Farmers Market and enjoy coffee (or alternative) and a pastry as we stroll through the market.
