Ireland Park commemorates the Irish Famine migrants who arrived on Toronto's shores between 1846 and 1849. Some 38,500 Irish men, women and children landed in Toronto, then a city of just 20 000 inhabitants. The seven sculptures reflect the tragic loss of life on the North Atlantic, as well as upon arrival on Canadian shores.
