Small private group tours where we don't 'fill seats' or 'mix groups' It will just be your group on tour. Local guides with knowledge of local areas and hidden gems providing commentary along the way. Being a private tour we can at times, adjust our routes and stops based on interests and availability of time.
Max seating is six guests based on typical sized adults/children. The number of passengers would be reduced for over-sized/taller passengers to ensure comfort & accessibility.

Halifax Citadel National Historic Site

From our pickup location we will travel to the heart of the city, Citadel Hill. The Citadel is the fortified summit of and is a National Historic Site that offers one of the best views of the city. The hill was first fortified in 1749, the year that Edward Cornwallis oversaw the development of the town of Halifax. Four fortifications have been constructed on Citadel Hill since the city was founded by the English in 1749, and were referred to as Fort George. We will have a brief stop here for photos and perhaps catch the changing of the guards (78th Highlanders) at the top of the hour.

Fort Needham Memorial Park

On 6 December 1917 during World War I a collision involving the munitions ship S.S. Mont Blanc occurred in the Halifax Narrows, just 600 yards (550 metres) northeast of the site of Fort Needham. The resulting blast, known thereafter as the Halifax Explosion, killed almost 2000 people, with another 9,000 injured. Most of North End Halifax was destroyed and thousands were left homeless. Fort Needham hill as a memorial park to honour the victims of the Halifax Disaster. We will visit and discuss the circumstance of this event that was the largest non-nuclear explosion in history.

Fairview Lawn Cemetery

Halifax has the distinction of having the largest resting place for the victims of the Titanic. There are three sites with 150 graves and we will view the largest, Fairview Lawn Cemetery which has 121 graves related to this tragic event. At the Titanic Cemetery we will recount the events leading up the the fatal collision with the iceberg, those survivors picked up and the recovery efforts of the victims. There are many stories of those laid to rest including that of the "unknown child'

Fisherman's Cove

We will travel across one of the two bridges to the Dartmouth area and on to Fisherman's Cove, located in Eastern Passage. We will tour some local sites including a boardwalk which crosses a pond and leads you to the incredible ocean . . keep an eye out for the local Moose that is known to be in the area of the Silver Sands Beach.
Fisherman's Cove is both frozen in time and constantly evolving. A wonderfully quaint, restored 200 year-old fishing community that is still active, it is also home to a unique collection of colourful gift shops, museums and art galleries, delicious restaurants, coffee and bake shops, and ice-cream canteens. Enjoy the shops, get up close to the fishing boats, learn about the fishing and lobster traps.
