Queen Elizabeth Park is a spectacular 52 hectare (130-acre) city park, with wonderful views of the city, sea and surrounding mountains. It is located on top of Little Mountain, approximately 125 metres above sea level and is a former quarry dug in the beginning of the twentieth century to provide building materials for the city. Amazingly this site has been transformed into gardens containing lawns, flowers and trees from around the world.

The mandate of the garden is to "maintain and enhance the bridge of understanding between Chinese and western cultures, promote Chinese culture generally and be an integral part of the local community."
