Have you always dreamt of riding off into an African sunset? That is precisely what we do on this evening & moonlight trail. Planned around the full moon, it is a truly unique way to explore the area at a gentle pace allowing you to take in the breathtaking views and magnificent sunsets at the historic Vrede en Lust Wine Estate, and neighbouring farms nestled in the foothills of the Simonsberg in South Africa’s most celebrated Franschhoek wine valley. The speed of this ride will depend on your riding abilities, but the beauty of the African skies will not disappoint. We will stop at the lookout point for some lovely Sundowners and snacks to enjoy another Gorgeous day in Africa and the ultimate African Sunsets. The duration of this ride is usually 2.5hr to 3hrs.

Wear: Tight long pants with a closed shoe that has a slight heel, or if you have riding gear, Jodhpurs and half or full chaps, comfortable riding boots, or bring whatever you usually wear to ride.
Bring: A Camera, Sunglasses, Sunscreen & Allergex if you have hayfever
Guests: Friends and family are welcome to spend time at Lust Bistro & Bakery

Please be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before your time slot begins to ensure your indemnity is completed and you receive the safety briefing.

All riders are required to wear a helmet. Helmets are tight fitting; please note that wigs or extensions can cause the helmets to not fit. Therefore, we request that all riders have their hair in a practical hairstyle when coming for horse or quad bike riding as no one will be allowed out without a helmet.

Enjoy a horseback riding trail along and over one of the most beautiful mountains in South Africa ...Wine Valley Horse Trails was started 18 years ago in Stellenbosch, South Africa, by Michelle Mazurkiewicz, who is a SANEF qualified instructor. Michelle has been a competitive show jumper and eventer since 1980 and has experience in most equestrian sports and activities.In 1998, Michelle moved Wine Valley Horse Trails to the beautiful Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, in Paarl. Here, her clients are able to ride, then relax and enjoy first class wines, lunches and meals at the estates’ restaurant and wine cellar. Rhebokskloof caters for weddings too and Wine Valley Horse Trails often provides a horse drawn wedding carriage for these and other events.Also in 1998, Michelle met Gavin Mey of Movie Horses & Stunt Services. They formed a partnership and now service the local and international film and commercial industry with trained horses and mules. Both Michelle and Gavin have their South African Animal Trainers Licenses.
