Arrive on the northern side of Wave Break Island, where you’ll land your kayak in Dolphin Bay before taking a short bushwalk to the Island’s east side where you’ll be snorkelling. The perfect meeting of natural and man-made beauty, the sparkling waters here are offset by the city’s dynamic skyline on the horizon. Take some enviable pics before strapping on your snorkel and slipping into the underwater world of the reef. With thousands of different species from sea cucumbers and trumpetfish to clownfish and perch, you’ll feel like you’re swimming in a real-life aquarium! After the most incredible submarine experience, refuel with a snack back on shore, while checking out those awesome views, before paddling your way back to where you started. Best of all, after it’s over, the team will share digital photos of the day with you, so you’ll never forget your special adventure.

Kayak to Wave Break Island
Departing from the iconic Broadwater, where our experienced and friendly tour guides will give you a kayaking safety induction, we will paddle through its spectacular clear waters, where you might have the chance to spot dolphins and stingrays. Whilst paddling through beautiful sandbanks, with a unique Gold Coast City view on the background, we will arrive to the Northern side of Wave Break Island, landing our kayaks next to a scenic spot that we like to call Dolphin Bay.
After a short bush-walk, we will arrive to Wave Break Island’s Eastern side, a stunning place that will take your breath away. Here, natural and man-made beauty are combined to create a picture-perfect background, the beautiful Gold Coast waterways with the city’s collection of skyscrapers on the horizon. Our tour guides will make sure to record this moment for your memories.
Snorkel at Wave Break Island’s Reef
Next, listen at our snorkelling induction whilst putting on your snorkelling gear and wetsuit in colder months (June, July & August) all gear provided by us, and get ready to explore the underwater beauty of this pristine Island. Swim in and discover many different species, from sea cucumber, trumpet fish, sergeant fish, and if you are lucky you can even find Nemo. You will be welcomed in by the friendly reef locals, the Sea Perch and Angelfish, so get ready to watch them very close!
As you get out of the water, we will have a snack waiting for you (hot drinks provided during June, July & August). Enjoy it whilst admiring the amazing views, and get ready to start our journey back to the launch point.
Itinerary:
- Check in and induction time: 20 minutes approx.
- Paddling Time to Wavebreak Island: 35 minutes approx.
- Beachwalk to Wave Break Island’s Eastern side: 10 minutes approx.
- Snorkeling/Relaxing Time: 40 minutes approx.
- Snack Time: 15 minutes approx.
- Paddling Time to Departure Point: 35 minutes approx.

- Qualified tour guides who will guide you during the whole experience (kayaking & snorkelling safety induction provided).

What to bring:
- Sunhat, sunscreen, sunglasses, towel
- Swimwear, protective UV+ and waterproof clothing. No toilets or change rooms available in the area
- Appropriate shoes suitable for sand walking (water shoes, sandals, thongs)
- Light jacket (For windy or cold days)
- A reusable water bottle
- If you suffer from asthma, diabetes or allergies please bring your own medication.
Please note:
- Minimum number & weather dependent.
- No experience required. Low fitness level.
- Minors under 18 years old are not allowed to join any activity without the presence of an adult.
- Water visibility and wildlife spotting might be affected for the force of nature and SKT is not responsible for this.
- This tour is not recommended during pregnancy or if you suffer from back problems.
- The kayaks weight capacity is 220kgs for double kayaks and 120kgs for single kayaks.
- All participants must sign the waiver of liability before commencing the activity. Young people aged under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. If the participant is a minor, a parent/guardian must sign the required waiver of liability. The minimum age required is 4 years old.
Changes to reservations for tickets can be made until 2 days prior to the date scheduled. Reservations may be re-scheduled by the operator of the activity due to reasons such as weather, minimum participation requirements, mechanical issues or other interruptions beyond their control.
