Kealakekua Bay Snorkel Tour To Captain Cook MonumentJoin us for an unforgettable snorkeling experience in the pristine waters of Kealakekua Bay. Our expert guides will take you to the best snorkel site on The Big Island, and you'll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant coral reef and encounter a variety of marine life up close.
Our tour boat is equipped with all the necessary snorkeling gear, including masks, fins, and snorkels. We also provide flotation devices for those who need them. Our experienced guides will provide you with safety instructions and snorkeling tips before you dive in, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
Our RHIB boat, Manta Raiv, provides an intimate experience for a maximum of 14 passengers. Manta Raiv cuts through Kona's waters with ease, allowing us to quickly reach various snorkeling sites. When it's time to snorkel, you'll enter and exit the water with a swim ladder.
The boat ride from Honokohau Harbor to Kealakekua Bay takes about 30 minutes, depending on the snorkeling site we select based on the day's conditions. As we travel along the Kona Coast, your US Coast Guard certified captain and crew will educate you with historical facts about the surrounding areas. Upon reaching the snorkeling site, your swim guide will assist you into the water and guide you across the reef to the best snorkeling spots. We typically visit spend about one hour in the water at Kealakekua Bay.
This 3-hour adventure comes with everything you need to snorkel, including a high-quality mask, snorkel, and fins. All you need is a bathing suit and you’ll be ready to go! Along with snorkel gear, you’ll be offered island-sourced pineapple, non-alcoholic refreshments, and snacks. We recommend you bring a towel, hat, sunglasses, and a waterproof camera. There’s room on the boat for your backpack, purse, and other reasonably sized items.

Things To Bring
- We recommend wearing your swimsuit to the harbor, and applying reef-safe sunscreen before you board the vessel. A towel, hat, and sunglasses are also recommended.
- This tour includes snorkeling gear, and you are welcome to bring your own.
- You may bring your own waterproof camera, or you can rent a GoPro from us. If you would like to rent a GoPro, please call us to reserve one for your tour.
Motion Sickness
If you get motion sickness, we recommend taking an over-the-counter medication such as non-drowsy Bo-nine. Many guests also find relief from using the wristbands that apply pressure to your wrists.
All minors must be accompanied by a paying adult.
We require a minimum of 4 guests to run all tours. If we do not reach our minimum, we will offer to rebook you to a different tour or issue a full refund. Alternatively, you can purchase additional tickets to reach the minimum of 4 guests, which will ensure the trip can run.
This tour can be booked as a private charter for up to 6 guests.
Please note that by booking the tour, you are agreeing to the following:
- Everyone in my group can swim without the assistance of a flotation device.
- Everyone in my group is proficient at snorkeling.
- Everyone in my group can climb a short ladder to re-board the boat.
- Everyone in my group is below the weight limit of 280 pounds.
- Nobody in my group has neck problems, back problems, heart problems, other serious medical conditions, or is pregnant.
Cancellations & Refunds
Reservation Changes, Cancellations & Refunds
Changes to reservations for tickets can be made until 2 days prior to the date scheduled. Reservations may be re-scheduled by the operator of the activity due to reasons such as weather, minimum participation requirements, mechanical issues or other interruptions beyond their control.
All gift certificate sales are final and not refundable. Gift certificates can only be exchanged prior to redemption.
