Frequently asked questions

When is the best time of day to go?

For kayaking, generally the mornings because there is less wind. Plus it’s easier to find parking.

How long are your tours?

All of our kayak tours are 1.5 hours.

How early should we arrive?

Just a few minutes before the appointed time, but leave time to find parking.

Do we do rentals?

We rent Surfboards only.

Do we have kid friendly activities?

Kayak - Kids between 3 and 7 can ride in the middle of a tandem kayak for free. 8 years and up can paddle with a parent in a tandem. We encourage children to try, and we have the experience to make it fun and safe for all ages.

What should we wear?

Bathing suit bottom, t-shirt, hat, sunblock and shades (if you have straps). Plus water. Leave towel and shoes on beach, unless you have water socks or Tevas. 

What should we do with valuables?

Leave them in your car, or in the surf shop, or for kayaking give them to your guide who can bring them along in a dry bag (particularly cameras). Non valuables like towels can be left on the beach.

Do people get sea sick?

Rarely. If you are prone to motion sickness then you may not want to go. Or perhaps take Dramamine before, or wear the wrist bands, drink plenty of water and don’t come hungover.

Is it safe?

Yes. Our guides are all trained professional waterman and women. They are all CPR and First Aid certified. If the conditions are unsafe, we don’t go out.

What about bad weather?

If we deem the conditions to be unsafe (wind, waves, rain or fog), we will cancel the trip and reschedule.

What will we see out there?

It’s a tour of the North Laguna coastline. Hidden beaches and coves, luxury homes, tidepools, a seal lion sanctuary, marine birds, and possibly dolphin and/or whales.

Do we need experience?

No. Our guides are there to teach you and keep you safe. However, you must know how to swim and not be fearful of the ocean.

Is it safe for people who are out of shape?

We recommend people be in decent shape and weight appropriate for their size. Our tandem kayaks have a total combined capacity of 400 pounds. If you are in a group we will pair heavier people with lighter.

Can we bring alcohol?

Never. And you cannot show up drunk either or we cannot take you out.

Are there bathrooms and a place to change?

There are bathrooms next door at Heisler Park for Kayak/SUP Tours. Our surf shop has ample room to change and private restrooms near by.
