Cotswolds Walks Tour From Stratford-upon-avon Or Moreton-in-marshOn this one-day tour, you'll get out of the minibus and into the glorious countryside! Explore Broadway Tower, Broadway and Burford, and experience the Cotswolds' celebrated walking trails with a fun, friendly local guide.
You'll enjoy up to three glorious walks on this tour: a short walk to Broadway Tower Country Park for panoramic views and red deer sightings (1 mile/1.6km); Broadway Tower to Broadway following The Cotswold Way (1.5 miles/2.4km; optional); figure-of-eight walk in the Windrush Valley to 3 secluded Cotswold villages (2.75 miles/4.5km; shorter option available; optional).
Tours depart from Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, or from Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds.

Cotswold Way
We have two pick up points for this tour: we collect our first passengers in Stratford-upon-Avon at 08.45 for departure by 08.50, then travel to Moreton-in-Marsh rail station to collect our final guests at 09.30.
From Moreton-in-Marsh station, it's a 15-minute drive to our first stop, where we park the minibus and start our walk to Broadway Tower. This is a gently undulating walk along a short section of the Cotswold Way (0.85 miles / 1.4km), which takes approximately 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. The walk passes through ancient woodland, agricultural land and wildflower meadows, and there are stunning views across the beautiful English countryside.

Broadway Tower

Perched on top of Beacon Hill - the second highest point in the Cotswolds - Broadway Tower has plenty of stories to tell and stunning views of the English countryside.
Minimum amount of walking required to visit this stop: 1.7 miles / 2.75km.
On arrival at the tower your guide will tell you all about its history. You'll then have some free time to discover Broadway Tower Country Park. We can access Broadway Tower Country Park free of charge as it is located on a public footpath, however there is a fee if you wish to go inside the Tower to get a higher view and explore the small museum inside (admission fee not included; pay on entry), visit the shop/café or explore the lovely grounds.
Then, you'll have the choice to either walk with your guide back to the minibus back along the Cotswold Way (0.85 miles / 1.4km) or, for more experienced walkers, continue along the Cotswold Way down the hill to our next stop, Broadway (approximately 1.5 miles / 2.5km).

Broadway is often referred to as "the jewel of the Cotswolds' crown" and you'll soon find out why. You'll have approximately 90 minutes to immerse yourself in this Cotswolds location, get some lunch at one of the many shops / eateries and explore with our personalised maps.

Asthall
Leaving Broadway refreshed after lunch, we'll drive to the Cotswold town of Burford for a brief toilet stop if needed.* Then, we'll travel to the Cotswold village of Asthall, where the notorious Mitford sisters grew up at Asthall Manor. Asthall is the starting point for our beautiful figure-of-eight walk through the Windrush Valley (max. 4.5km/2.75 miles, with a shorter option available).
*If you prefer not to do the afternoon walk, we can leave you in Burford for extra free time instead.

Swinbrook
Swinbrook
The middle point of our figure-of-eight walk brings us to the pretty village of Swinbrook. Here you can explore the church, and the graveyard where members of the infamous Mitford family are buried. The pretty village green, with its small brook, white picket fence and red telephone box, is a quintessentially English photo opportunity.
If you'd like to cut the walk short, you're welcome to rest for refreshments at The Swan Inn in Swinbrook (own expense). Your guide and the rest of the group who continue on the walk will collect you on the way back.

Widford
The final village on our Windrush Valley walk is the lovely village of Widford. We'll cross stiles and cattle grids to pass through lovely fields and meadows, passing back through Swinbrook and returning to Asthall to complete the figure-of-eight.

Finishing our walk, we make the short journey to Burford for the final stop of the day. A beautiful historic Cotswolds town that's great for exploring, shopping or simply relaxing with a drink after a busy day on the trails. Maps provided.

You'll get the most out of this tour if you're comfortable walking up to 3 miles (5km) on varied terrain. We do offer easier or alternative options for less able walkers, but you should be able to walk at least 1 mile (1.6km).
There are two pick-up points for this tour: Shakespeare's Birthplace Coach Terminal, Stratford-upon-Avon – Departure at 08:50; Moreton-in-Marsh Rail Station – Departure at 09:30. Please note your ticket may display the tour start time as 08:50, regardless of your chosen pick-up location. However, if you selected Moreton-in-Marsh, your actual departure time is 09:30. Kindly arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled departure.
Look out for our friendly guide in Go Cotswolds uniform, driving a large white minibus with green and purple Go Cotswolds branding—you won’t miss us!

If you are arriving in Moreton-in-Marsh by train, the train arriving at approximately 09:17–09:20 is ideal. It’s a small station, and it’s just a 1–2 minute walk to the car park where your guide will meet you.
The total tour duration of 8 hours includes travel time. Approximate travel times are as follows: 30 minutes from Stratford-upon-Avon to Moreton-in-Marsh (for those who select pick up in Stratford-upon-Avon); 15 minutes from Moreton-in-Marsh to the start of the trail to Broadway Tower; 40 minutes from Broadway to Burford; 10 minutes from Burford to Asthall; 10 minutes from Asthall to Burford; 30 minutes from Burford to Moreton-in-Marsh
If you are arriving in Stratford-upon-Avon by train, note that our pick-up point is a 5–10 minute walk from the station. Please note that on Sundays, there are no trains arriving before the tour departs.
Uber and similar services are not widely available in the Cotswolds, and local taxis can be difficult to book last minute. We strongly recommend booking taxis in advance or using public transport where possible.
If you're not at your pick-up point on time (08:50 in Stratford-upon-Avon, 09:30 in Moreton-in-Marsh) and we can't contact you, the tour will depart without you. Make sure we have your correct mobile number with international dial code before your tour.

We have plenty of secure luggage space on board our vehicles, though please note our guides may not be able to assist with very heavy luggage
